Wasiwaska
16/Julho/2008
Luna, my thesis’ orientator, invited me to stay on last weekend (12, 13 July) at Wasiwaska. There were people from several countries at Wasiwaska and I have a good time with them.
I had the chance to hear two great lectures: one with David Presti on Saturday, other on Sunday with Dale Pendell. Beyond reorganizing all the thesis with Luna, I could talk with both scientists about my work. For me the contact was extremely rich.
PENDELL, DALE.
Dale Pendell is a poet, software engineer, and longtime student of ethnobotany. His poetry has appeared in many journals, and he was the founding editor of KUKSU: Journal of Backcountry Writing. He has led workshops on ethnobotany and ethnopoetics for the Naropa Institute and the Botanical Preservation Corps, and has presented at the Mind States conference. He is perhaps best known for his books of epic entheogenic poetry.
PRESTI, DAVID.
Research Interests: How chemical processes in the brain are related to manifestations of behavior remains one of the most fascinating and challenging issues in neuroscience. I am interested in how descriptions of the neurochemical mechanisms and behavioral effects of psychoactive drugs might contribute to increased understanding of the connection between physical processes in the brain and the psychology of mental states (the mind-body problem).
